Our Mission

Since 1982, Action Long Island (ALI) has been developing relationships between business and government agencies to raise and resolve issues that directly influence industry and the quality of life on Long Island. Action Long Island is a civic and business advocacy nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that provides its’ members with a platform for community initiatives, networking opportunities, and public forums.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, the many member companies, and the hundreds of thousands of hardworking and talented staff at those companies, we thank our partners for working closely with us to present this important update. The collaboration between organizations reflects a shared mission to achieve common goals for the businesses and residents of Long Island.

This spirit of unity—among business, labor, civic organizations, government, and others—is essential for all of us to live, work, and prosper on this small patch of sand floating in the ocean that we call home.

We have come through some very challenging economic times, and for many, the struggle continues. With the support of hundreds of dedicated volunteer members serving on diverse and issue-oriented Task Forces, we continue to identify and address the many challenges to our quality of life on Long Island.

As always, we will be closely watching Albany for funding opportunities to improve our infrastructure. When economic expansion is planned at Republic Airport, we will be there to help—and remind decision-makers of our long-standing commitment to keeping the airport open. When investments are considered for Brookhaven National Laboratory, we will be there to help—and recall our efforts in securing funding for the Heavy Ion Project that kept the lab operational. When transportation improvements are on the table, we will be there to help—and highlight our role in widening Route 110, opening the HOV lane mid-day, and advocating for the reopening of the LIRR station at Republic Airport.

Through our Task Forces, we are actively addressing the Long Island economy, job creation, high energy and housing costs, environmental challenges, and healthcare. You and your company can play a vital role in finding solutions.

So what is important to you and your company?
