Action Long Island (ALI), working closely with you, your companies, our elected officials, partners in labor, educational and healthcare communities, civic associations and many other allies on Long Island, have faced many challenges. Challenges that at the outset many had said could not be overcome.

With hard work, dedication, perseverance and your continued support the ALI team has always been successful.

We now find ourselves at a critical crossroad. Many, if not all of us, must now pause to consider how we would like to move forward.

How best to restructure Long Island- our jobs, our homes, our future.

This is accomplished through the hard work of our many Task Forces:

  • Healthcare
  • Housing and Development
  • Young Adult Alliance (YAA)
  • Land Use and Zoning
  • Our Kids in Action (OKIA)
  • …..

We now find ourselves in a position where we can, and must, make many difficult choices, which we more than likely should have made a long time ago.

This presents us all with a new set of opportunities. We must now look long and hard at our priorities, to decide what we have, or have not done to bring us to this point. What is important today and most importantly for tomorrow.

We are here today writing the history of Long Island, being called upon by the future to take Action now.

WHY ARE WE HERE?
ALI is here for you – Long Island’s businesses and residents. We bring leaders from the business, professional, labor, education, government, and civic communities together with local, county, state and federal officials to help us make positive changes. We do it because we live and work here too and because we want Long Island to be a great place to live.

If you do business on Long Island, chances are you have a concern or an issue that is relevant to you. At ALI, we have many Task Forces that cover a wide range of issues. WHY TASK FORCES?
If you live on Long Island and drive on the parkways or turn on a light switch, ALI has affected your life. We don’t believe in committees because we don’t just talk about issues — we do something about them. And that’s why we have Task Forces. We’re dedicated to getting results and our list of accomplishments growing since 1982.
